Obituary: Arleter Burton, 86, member Purdy SB Church

Mrs. Burton was matriarch of a large, prominent Adair family. Her living descendants number 38.
Arleter Burton, 86, a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, KY, formerly of the Purdy Community, passed away Thursday, September 7, at 11:10pm at the nursing home.

The funeral service will be Sunday, September 10, 2006, at 2:00pm, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. J. Richard Lehman and Bro David Coffey officiating. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:30pm Friday, September 8, 2006 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.



Mrs. Burton was a homemaker and a member of the Purdy Separate Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Willie J. and Nancy Jane McQueary Burton and was the widow of Delmer Lee Burton, who preceded her in death on September 20, 1996.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Deborah J. Hensley and Sheila Ann Burton, both of Columbia, KY

  • Three sons: Frankie Landin (Sheila) Burton, Danny Wayne (Rita) Burton, and William Albert (Rosie) Burton, all of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Sherman Burton, Columbia, KY, and Wallace Burton, Louisville, KY

  • Three sisters: Shirley Bryant and Gladys Powers, both of Columbia, KY, both of Columbia, KY; and Pinkie Lee of Ohio

  • Nine grandchildren: Teresa (Joe) Falueskai, Tony (Rhonda) Burton, Doug (Kate) Burton, Kevin Burton, Rebecca Jo Burton, Darrin Wayne (Cathy) Burton, Danna Marie (Brooks) Burton, Robert Matthew (Lindsey) Hensley, and Rachel Gayle (P.J.) Rowe

  • Fourteen great grandchildren: Tasha Ann (Chris) Burton, Trisha Ann (Matt) Burton, Timothy David (Liz) Burton Sample, Constance Falueskai, Joseph Faleuskai, Jessica Burton, Michael Burton, Nick Hempfling, Ben Hempfling, Devin Lee Burton, Mariah Hensley, Mercedes Hensley, and Christian and Cierra Sconce

  • Five great great grandchildren: Colin Cox, Landon Cox, Dalton Cox, Gracie Sample, and Andriana Sample

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Burton attended Purdy Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
