Obituary: Lynn Lea, boyhood resident of Columbia, dies in FL

He was an an Air Force Veteran and a fireman. Mr. Lea lived on Tutt Street in Columbia during his school days. He spent most of his adult life in Florida, but returned often to visit friends and family in Adair County.
Lynn Lea, 67, formerly of Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at his home in Kenneth City, FL.

The funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Grissom Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Puteet and Bro. Herbert Janes officiating. Visitation will be after 10am CT, Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Grissom Funeral Home, with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery on the Liberty Road in Columbia.



Mr. Lea was a member of a wonderful famiily who lived on Tutt Street in Columbia, KY. Their parents were the late Noel and Beatrice Irene Caldwell Lea. Noel Lea was the longtime USDA Soil Conservation scientist for Adair County.

Lynn Lea attended Columbia Grade School and is a 1957 graduate of Adair County High School. He and his family are remembered as faithful members of the Columbia Baptist Church.. In school days he was known as "Whitey" by school chums, to distinguish him from his fraternal twin, Glenn "Blacky" Lea.

Lynn Lea is recalled as a warm, universally liked individual, with a captivating grin, and winning sense of humor.

He served in the US Air Force, and was retired following a long career as a firefighter in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Baker Lea (also of Adair County), Kenneth City, FL, and the following:
  • One son, Robert Lea, Pinellas Park, FL

  • One daughter, Debra Lea, Kenneth City, FL

  • His twin brother, Glenn Lea, California

  • One sister, Carolyn Turner, Mt. Washington, KY.
An older brother, David Lea, preceded hiim in death.

Lynn Lea, 67, died September 6, 2006, in Kenneth City, FL. He attended schools in Adair County. He was a retired fireman and a resident of Kenneth City at the time of his death.

The funeral will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia Kentucky.
