Four Whitley Countians arrested: Three fleeing Leland Grant's Store; a fourth found, armed with pistol, inside the Neatsville Store. The four were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail

Adair County Sheriff's Deputies Nathan Bradshaw and Tracy McCarol, along with Kentucky State Police Trooper Jamie Richard responded to Grant's Grocery in the Neatsville Community at around 2:17am CT, Friday morning, August 25, 2006.

When Deputy McCarol arrived, he met a vehicle that had just pulled from the business. McCarol followed and stopped the vehicle on the Eunice-Dunnville Road.

The vehicle contained three occupants:
  1. Justin G. Messer, 21, Williamsburg, KY, the operator
  2. Joshua Lawson, 22, Gray, KY
  3. Ashley Burns, 23, Williamsburg, KY
All three were placed under arrest and charged with complicity to commit burglary, first.

Deputy Bradshaw went to the store and found Jamie Carmen, 19, of Bertha Hollow, Gray, KY, still inside the store, armed with a 25-caliber handgun.

The window had been broken and merchandise was scattered about the store.

Deputy Bradshaw, assisted by Trooper Richard, placed Jamie Carmen under arrest and charged him with burglary 1st, robber 1st, criminal mischief 1st, theft by unlawful taking over $300 and possession of burglary tools.

All four of the persons arrested were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail in Columbia, KY.
