Five year old child dies following 4-wheeler accident

Another child accidentally puts vehicle in neutral, causing it to roll down embankment and strike younger child

At around 11:19am CT, on Sunday, August 13, 2006, the Kentucky State Police Columbia received a call from the Tompkinsville Police Department about a four-wheeler accident on Apple Grove Road in northern Monroe County, near Summer Shade, KY.

A five year old child and a seven year old child were playing outside a residence when the seven year accidently put the four-wheeler in neutral, causing it to roll down an embankment.



The four-wheeler struck the five year old child, causing head injuries.

The child was taken to the Monroe County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Ricky Brooks of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
