Adair County unemployment climbs slightly in June But local jobs market still second to Taylor in 10-county Lake Cumberland Area Development District; 8,438 at work here in June; ColumbiaMagazine.com chart shows rankings Adair County's unemployment rate of 5.7% was up slightly from the May 2006 figure of 5.3%, and up even less when compared to the figure for June 2006, which stood at 5.6%. The rate was the second best in the 10-county Lake Cumberland Area Development District. Taylor County, with 5.2% unemployed, was best. Both counties are faring better than the State average of 6.1%. Kentucky's average is well above the figure for the United States. Nationwide, the unemployment rate is 6.1% The figures which come from the Kentucky Education Cabinet show that employment in Adair County in June was 8,438 out of a civilian labor force of 8,951.
