Breeding Area VFD has four-hour extrication training class

By Brandon Harvey

Recently the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department held a four hour extrication training class at the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department. The firefighters were trained on the different techniques of how to properly stabilize vehicles, remove car doors, car roofs and other safety aspects.

Chief Terry Harvey stated "This was a valuable training to our Department. We have hosted extrication trainings since 1998 and this one will add to our knowledge on the safety aspects of vehicle extrication."

FEMA grant helped purchase TNT extrication tools

In 2003 our department received a FEMA grant to purchase the TNT Rescue tools. Since the fire department purchased the tools we have used them numerous times. The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department had 18 Firefighters, Firefighter/First Responders and Firefighter/EMT's in attendance.

The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department would like to give a special thanks to Michael Bryant Towing for furnishing the cars that were used to practice our extrication techniques and State Fire and Rescue for the training class.
