Obituary: Clara Janes, 92, member, Wells Chapel Baptist

Clara Janes, 92, a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor Nursing Home in Burkesville, KY, formerly of Breeding, KY, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 10:30pm CT, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 2:00pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Elbert hadley the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Fudge Cemetery at Breeding.


She was the daughter of the late John Elzy and Annie Stotts Claywell and the widow of Edgar Janes, who preceded her in death on August 21, 1995Survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Genevieve Lewis and her husband Harris of Columbia, KY

  • Two Grandchildren: Debbie South and her husband Joel and Doug Lewis and his wife Tracey

  • Two great-grandchildren: Treyton Lewis and Harley Lewis

  • One step-great grandson: Dustin Harvey

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Chris South, and by five brothers and one sister, Oliver, Aaron, Otis, Owen and Coy Claywell and Lila Fields

Clara Janes was a member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation will be after 4:30pm CT, Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.
