Letter: Dr. Burton writes from Kingsport, TN

Dr. Greg Burton responded to a request for contact information after several inquiries were made by readers of his wonderful story posted today on ColumbiaMagazine.com on Thomas Burton of Cobbs. Included below are his postal address, email address, and important web links. -Ed Waggener

Ed:

I enjoy writing and I have reveled in discovering my roots. My Burtons in Adair County were common folk, like most of the hill people, but their heritage is incredibly rich. . . Christopher Newport, Thomas Burton, Daniel Boone, John Grider, and a strong possibility of direct ancestry to the royal houses of England through Edward Morgan, Daniel Boone's great-grandfather.

My wife taught school with another Adair historian, Mike Watson, at Anderson County HS. Mike and I became fast friends during our time together.

I am due a return visit to Adair County. Murrell Burton has promised me a riding tour of my Adair Burton farms. And he is loaded with stories!!!

Anyone can contact me at: liveliketheson@charter.net for a personal contact.

God bless,

Dr. Greg Burton, pastor
