IN BUSINESS: Eddie Darnell new AIG insurance agent He will serve families in Adair, Metcalfe, Cumberland, Russell, Casey, Taylor, and Green Eddie Darnell is the new agent for the American General Life and Accident Insurance Company in Adair and surrounding counties, AIG has announced. He will be offering the wide line of Quality of Life, Critical Care, and life insurance policies. It's more than a business Being an agent is a business, but Mr. Darnell says that it is more than that. "When my brother-in-law had a massive heart attack several years ago, I realized how valuable insurance is. Not only Life Insurance that is only paid out upon death but insurance that you have access to before, when the money is so badly needed. He saw the need for insurance in his own family "My brother-in-law lost nearly everything he had worked so hard for. Like most people, he didn't think these things happen to healthy 37 year olds." Asked what he wanted to accomplish in his new position he stated simply "I want to help others." For Mr. Darnell, helping others is what life is about. "That's why I got into counseling and education in the first place. I wanted to make a difference in others' lives. Representing AIG, I feel that I can really do that." New agent is a ACHS, LWC graduate; has Masters from WKU Eddie Darnell is a lifelong resident of Adair County and is a 1985 graduate of Adair County High School. He continued with his education at Lindsey Wilson College where he earned his Bachelors in Human Services. He then attended Western Kentucky University where he graduated with his Masters In Arts and Education. He's the son of Jobe and the late Joann Darnell He is the son of the Adair County Roads Director Jobe Darnell and the late Joann Darnell. He and his wife, Lynne, and their family live on a farm in the Flat Woods area, on a road named for his mother, Joann Lane. It's just up the hill from Jobe Darnell's place. They call the farm "Majestic Acres." They raise Boer and Myotonic, or "fainting" goats there, a business which for Mr. Darnell has been not only financially rewarding, but has allowed him to help other farmers succeed in the business as well. He makes all industry meetings, and spends hours each month on the phone helping new people understand the goat business. Says insurance is about helping, too He looks at insurance profession in the same way. "I think I can help families in this job," he says. "I think I can help families take care of their own needs. He adds, "With AIG's quality of life and critical care policies, I can do just that." "Pennies a day can help family get through difficulties" AIG offers a range of policies which help individuals and families when a health problems interrupt their lives. "No matter if it's cancer, a stroke, a heart attack or whatever illness prevents them from carrying on daily living, AIG can make a difference," Mr. Darnell said. "For pennies a day I can help a family get through the financial difficulties that can ruin anybody when a major medical condition occurs." That's also part of the payback for Mr. Darnell. "What a wonderful feeling to know I helped a family keep their home and pay their bills until their loved one is back on their feet."
