LINKS: Cougars may be only 35-50 helicopter miles from Keltner

A story in the June 12, 2006, Courier-Journal gives a report of three cougar sightings in Mammoth Cave National Park.

If the sightings are confirmed, cougars may be as close as 35-50 miles from Keltner, Adair CO. Thirty-five to 50 miles is about how far it is to Mammoth Cave by helicopter from the northwest Adair County community.

The National Park Service issued a press release on June 10, 2006, about cougar sightings in the park. There have been three since September, including staff, but we have been having trouble locating the press release.

The story had made WKYT and the Lexington news circles, plus one national Cryptid site one might find interesting: CryptidCaution, scary site, with monsters and frightening fauna, plus very slow downloads

Finally, in lieu of a picture of a Mammoth Cave Cougar, here's a link to Aunt Gin's Squirrel.
