Adair SO, Rescue Squad, Air Evac help father find child

Story ends well, with wet dogs providing clue to five-year-old's whereabouts; father first to reach boy, who's in good condition except for minor scratches

The Adair County Sheriff's Office, along with the Adair County Rescue Squad and Air Evac, and the father of a small boy combined forces to find a five-year-old who was reported missing Tuesday afternoon.

The boy's father was the eventual rescuer.

The emergency response teams were called out to 2669 HWY 768 East at about 3:30pm today, Tuesday, May 30, 2006.

Five year old Cody Gadberry had wandered off from the yard into a wooded area.

Cody had two small dogs with him.

A clue to his whereabouts came when one of the dogs returned home about 30 minutes later with his hair soaked with water.

Sheriff Steve Cheatham and two deputies and the boy's father began searching along a small stream near the home and a short time later, teh boy was found by his father, across the highway from his home, near the stream.

Cody appeared to be in good condition except for a few minor scratches.
