He was my hero. -DEBORAH HENSLEY Since the listing of Adair County Veterans was posted on Friday, several names have been added to the list of Adair County Veterans. Patricia Goodwin sent information about her dad. "My father, J.C. Sexton served in the Army during World War II," she wrote. Candice Compton Robertson sent two names. "Please add Clayton Howard Compton, Msgt, Air Force, World War II and Howard L. Robertson, Army, Vietnam War." Deborah Hensley wrote, "Please add my father's name to the list of veterans. He served in WWII. His name is on the wall in the courthouse. His name was Delmer Lee Burton and he passed away in 1996 at the age of 72 years old. His first child was stillborn while he was overseas so he never got to see her except for pictures. He and mom went on to have 7 other children, 5 boys and 2 girls. He was a great person, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a local business man. People knew him for his love of antique cars and his laughter. He was my hero. Daughter, Deborah Burton Hensley. And we received another note with the name of Bobbie C. Sexton, who is retired USAF, and served in Vietnam. Danny Goodin sent us the names of his uncles, Elbert and Waymon Burton and Wesley Goodin all of whom served in World War II. We got word of LTC William Jessee Neat, who served in the US Army from 1975-1996, during which time he served two tours of duty in the Republic of Korea. Inette Goodin spotted the omission of her Dad, Aldus Brockman, who served in World War II. Martha Henry Berry wrote with information about her sister, Mary Goodson Henry Morgan, who served as in the Army Nurse Corps in Italy during World War II. Mary Goodson Henry was overseas for three years. Martha Henry Berry also reminded us of the service of her brother, Charles Victor Henry. "Vic served in Korea," she wrote.
