New City of Columbia Planning & Zoning members to hold first session

Planning & Zoning Commission meets at 5:00 p.m., with four new members
The newly appointed members of the Columbia Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) will exercise their official duties for the first time this afternoon when at the regular P&Z meeting today, Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. in City Hall.

They will consider the following:
A zone change request for 1 lot at the corner of Burkesville ST and Bomar Heights from R-2 Low Moderate Density Residential to C-2 Highway Oriented Commercial.
The property is owned by Don Franklin, who plans an office park at the location.

The new members of the P&Z Board are George Kolbenschlag, Sue Stivers, Lloyd French, and Joe Flowers. They join incumbent board member Mary Allender.

The new board members were appointed by Mayor Pat Bell to replace Joe Pyles, V.T. Yarberry, George Keltner, and Tim Bradshaw, who resigned in protest over the Columbia City Council's rejection of recommendations on one piece of property at 503 Greensburg ST.

The meeting is open to the public.
