Cyrus / Miss Katie Murrell, ''A bit of sunshine''

Miss Katie Murrell will never be forgotten at Lindsey Wilson; it seems she made an impression everywhere she went. This story, published in 1948, illustrates why
Miss Katie Murrell still holds a place in many of our hearts as a much loved friend from our days at Lindsey Wilson College, but she left her mark elsewhere as well.

Before accepting employment at Lindsey Wilson in the mid 1940s, Miss Katie worked in Bedford, Ky., in the Trimble County school system.

In the summer of 1948, a few years after her return to Columbia, the "Trimble Democrat" newpaper ran this tribute to her, and it subsequently was reprinted in the September 15, 1948 edition of the Adair County News:

"A BIT OF SUNSHINE"

A bit of sunshine--the kind that warms the heart--returned to Bedford last week thru' the visit of Miss Katie Murrell, a former teacher at T.C.H.S. and one of the most loved persons, both in and out of the school, our community has ever known.

She had to leave--all too soon--for her busy work at Lindsey Wilson Junior College at Columbia, but her, "Don't you dare forget me," held no terror at all for her friends here who. several years ago, marked "Miss Murrell" on a spot in Memory's Corner and labeled it "For Keeps."
