COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College Singers will hold their annual Spring Homecoming Concert on March 21, 2006.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Columbia Baptist Church. The event is part of Lindsey Wilson 2005-06 Cultural Affairs Series. Itis free and open to the public.

Tour had patriotic theme

The Lindsey Wilson Singers 14th-annual spring tour this month had a patriotic theme. Dubbed the We the People tour, the Singers began their performances on March 12 at South Ashland United Methodist Church in Ashland, Ky.

The ensemble then headed east to perform at missions and United Methodists Churches in West Virginia, Virginia and then along the Eastern Seaboard. The highlight of this years trip was a performance in Philadelphia in celebration of the 300th anniversary of Benjamin Franklins birth.

Tours are also educational

In addition to being a culturally rewarding and spiritually fulfilling experience for our students, our tours are also very educational, said Gerald Chafin, associate professor of music and director of choral activities. We want our students to learn about a particular area of the United States and what makes it a unique place. This year, with the 300th anniversary of Benjamin Franklins birth, is wonderful time to re-introduce our students to one of our nations great Founding Fathers.

Andy Mann, senior, is president of the Singers and he is a graduate of Adair County High School and resides in Columbia.
