Guitarist, cancer survivor to perform March 29 at LWC David Bailey, whose story has been on 48 Hours and also 60 Minutes, will perform in Lindsey Wilson Caf in Cranmer Dining Center One photo to accompany this story By Emily Fryman frymane@lindsey.edu COLUMBIA, KY - When guitarist and activist David Bailey performs, he communicates a life experience that resonates with the audience as clearly as his music. Bailey will present Faith, Passion, and Music at the Lindsey Caf on March 29 at Lindsey Wilson College. His performance, which is part of the 2005-06 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affair Series, will be at 7 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March 29, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. It is free and open to the public. Influenced by Cat Stevens, J.S. Bach Baileys influences include Cat Stevens, J.S. Bach and Jim Croce. Bailey grew up the son of Presbyterian missionaries in Beirut, Lebanon. At the age of 12, Bailey began to play the classical guitar. He joined musical ensembles and toured Europe. Bailey later worked in America. After 10 years in the workforce, Bailey discovered he had a malignant brain tumor and had only a few months to live so he left his job and began playing music again. Bailey has since played for 10 years, recorded 12 albums and toured in 41 states in America. Story was featured on 48 Hours, 60 Minutes Baileys story of survival and music has been featured on CBS News/48 Hours, 60 Minutes and National Public Radio. May 2003, he won the prestigious Kerrville NewFolk songwriting competition and has shared the stage with many others. David Bailey will perform Faith, Passion, and Music at the Lindsey Caf at 7 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March 29, in the Lindsey Wilson College Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.
