Quick action by Adair Fire Dept. brings KY Tie fire under control

Saturday morning blaze apparently followed some welding work at site
The Adair County Fire Department responded to a fire at approximately 10:05 a.m., on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Kentucky Tie & Lumber Sawmill.

The fire occurred on Sawmill Road south off East KY 80, outside Columbia, Adair CO, KY.


It took the firemen approximately 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control. It was contained to one building and some equipment.

It was apparently started after workers were doing some welding.

Ten firemen responded and were on the scene for a total of approximately two hours and 15 minutes.
