She was the daughter of Rebecca Lewis Dowdy of Greensburg and Representative Albert Mercer of Milltown, the mother of Drs. Albert and Harty Mercer, a niece of Sallie Mercer Hindman of Milltown, and had land holdings in the Milltown area of Adair CO, KY
Katherine Mercer, 93, passed away Friday, February 24, 2006.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 27, 2006, at Columbia Cemetery with burial to follow. Bro. Randy Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be after 12 noon, Monday, February 27, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

She was born June 13, 1912, in in Milltown, Adair CO, KY.

Her mother was Rebecca Lewis Dowdy of Greensburg and her father was Representative Albert Milton Mercer of Milltown in Adair County and Frankfort, KY.

She was the niece of Sallie Mercer Hindman of Milltown.

She was a 1931 graduate of Hamilton College where she was May Queen.

She spent her later years in the Milltown area of Adair County where she had land holdings.She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Albert Mercer, Owensboro, KY; and Dr. Harty Mercer, Fort Myers, Florida.
