Irene Voils Pyles, 94, Russell County, KY Irene Voils Pyles, of Russell Springs, passed from this earthly life on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Russell County Hospital. At the grand age of 94, she made it to her eternal, heavenly home. Born February 20, 1930, in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Lilburn and Lizzie Stearman Voils. After graduating high school, Irene became a teacher, eventually obtaining her master's degree and Rank I certification. In the very early years of her career, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. Russell County was blessed to have her as an educator for over thirty years. Irene was a proud member of the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary Board for forty-two years and logged thousands of hours, volunteering her time doing what she enjoyed the most - helping others. She was a life-long member of The Springs Church, a church that her grandparents helped establish many years ago. Within the church, she was a member of the United Methodist Women group. Again, selflessly volunteering her time for projects that would help those that were in need. Irene left behind a legacy for her family, church family, and friends...an example of a life lived with a servant's heart. Survivors included two sons, Jimmy Pyles and Jacky Pyles, both of Russell Springs; grandson Eric (and Heather) Selby; a granddaughter, Alisha (and Josh) Knight, of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Layla Aitken, Ava Aitken, and Hallie Knight; son-in-law, Billy Selby, of Russell Springs; as well as several nieces and nephews. the name have been added, as grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Lane Selby; brothers, Leland Voils, Eugene Voils, and infant brother, Lewis Voils; and sisters, Louise Voils Leach, Oretha Voils Selby, and Verlee Voils Warriner. Funeral services are 1pmCT Monday, November 11, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Taylor Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM Monday and continue until time of services. Pallbearers will be Clint Voils, Chris Adams, Richie Stephens, Eric Selby, Neil Collins, and Josh Knight. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Irene's memory be made to the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary or to The Springs Church. These can be left at the funeral home.
