Columbia United Methodist Church Valentine dinner honors senior members By Marsha Walker On February 15, Columbia United Methodist Church held a Valentine's dinner inhonor of members who have reached 75 years of age. The dinner washeld to show them how much we love them and appreciate what they have meantto our church. Four members present have reached the age of 90+. They are: Haskel Rogers,age 90; Asa Shelton, age 93; Cuva Scott, age 94 and Effie Heskamp, age 95. They are all active members of the church. Grover Gilpin, Mattie Hutchisonand Luther Collins were honored for their 68 years of faithful membership. Mrs. Heskamp has been a member for 82 years, and still recalls clearly her baptism in Russell Creek at the age of 13. This story was posted on 2006-02-17 15:00:18
