Coy Dean Petty, 72, Columbia, KY (1951-2024)

Coy Dean Petty of Columbia died on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was 72 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Mike Helm officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.


He was born September 11, 1951 to the late Clyde and Mary Helen Pelston Petty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Petty and Deana Petty, a sister, Marcine Melson and a grandson, Derrick Pickett. Coy Dean was a Roofer and Mechanic.

Survivors Include:
  • His Wife - Vickie Petty
  • Two sons - Troy Dean Petty (Amber) and Wayne Smith, all of Columbia
  • One daughter - Sheila Richard (William) of Chicago
  • Four sisters - Irene Furkins, Judy Bunch and Vicki Melson all of Columbia and Teresa Scott of Russell Springs
  • Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchilden
  • A host of other relatives and friends
Casket Bearers - Jeff Coffey, Jeff Thomas, Coy Turner, Eugene Bunch, Gary Melson, Ricky Bailey, Darrell McGaha and Chris Coomer
