Letter: Yield

Mike Watson writes:
Linda, I can see in this photo the nice red "Yield" sign with the Historic Adair County Courthouse as the backdrop. As of this morning there were not Yield signs on either the Jamestown nor the Greensburg entrances to the Public Square. I saw not one, but two, vehicles sail right on through--one from each entry street--the circle of the Square.

I could not say, but wondered if one or both were "from off" and thought they had the right of way. There must be something someone can do...before the undertakers have to be called to the scene.
Mike adds the following update:
By the end of the working day on Wednesday, the Yield sign had been reset at the entrance to the Public Square from Greensburg Street; but the entry from Jamestown Street still had no temporary sign to warn those coming onto the Square that they were to Yield. The vehicle that preceded me this morning did not even slow, and there were at least two vehicles coming around the Historic Courthouse--luckily the lead one was slow enough to avoid hitting the offender--which had an Adair County license tag. Oh well, just be careful lest you be mowed down during you commute this rainy morning.
