Columbia Utilities Commission's Natural Gas Meter Station now operational New $300,000 plant completely funded internally, with no loans or grants Photo accompanies this story By Joe Hare Public Relations Director, Columbia Utilities Commission jlhare1@gmail.com Columbia Utilities new Natural Gas Meter Station located on Van Hoy Lane, just East of North 55, Columbia, KY, is now online. This station has been in the works for the last 3 years and today became a reality as it was put into service for Columbia Utility customers from the North City limits on KY Hwy 55 to the North side of Cane Valley. Today's action makes meter station operational back into City Limits It had been in partial use for the past for the past 15 months, but today became operational back into the city limits. Later this summer further changes will be made and it will also serve as a backup supply to our existing service from North KY Hwy 61. Station supplies Commerce Park with almost unlimited supply of natural gas This station also is providing the Green River Commerce Park with an almost unlimited supply of natural gas to any industrial clients that locate to our new industrial park. Columbia Utilities Commission has had expenditures in excess of $300,000.00,completelyfunded by Columbia Utilities with no loans or grants,to make this project a reality. "It is our desire to continue to expand or gas service into other areas of the county as need and funding will allow," Columbia Utilities Director Jim Williams said.
