Shoreline (The Wave) to file FCC application to acquire The Big Dawg EMPIRE BUILDING: Columbia-based communications leader expands! COLUMBIA, KY. Jan. 27, 2006 - Alan Reed and Mike Harris of Shoreline Communications, Inc, in Columbia and Russell Springs, announced today that they are filing an application with the Federal Communications Commission to acquire 99.9, The Big Dawg. The new owners also own and operate 92.7, The Wave, with transmitter and studio on the top of the second Russell Creek Hill midway between Columbia and Russell Springs. In a statement given on Friday, Alan reed, President of Shoreline Communications said, The Big Dawg is such a powerful station with a great on-air product." He continued, This acquisition will allow Shoreline Communications to take a great station and allow it to become even better." The station's studio and office will remain on Main Street in Campbellsville. Localism is heart and soul of company "Localism is the very heart and soul of Shoreline, and we want to apply the same philosophy to The Big Dawg," Mr. Reed said. He said that Shoreline intends to provide country music, local and regional news, weather coverage, and motor racing for all the South Central Kentucky region. Pending FCC approval, the official change of ownership will be June 1, 2006. Mr. Reed said that Shoreline would continue to operate The Big Dawg in such as a country music station, with added local content. Mr. Reed and his wife, Jane, are both graduates of Campbellsville Univerity. Mrs. Reed is a teacher in the Adair County School System. Mr. Harris and his wife, Laura, are the principal attorneys in the Columbia Law firm of Harris & Harris. Direct comments are not available.
