Geneva Goodin, 91, Columbia, KY (1932-2024)

Geneva (Burton) Goodin of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her residence. She was 91 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jamie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Bearwallow Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Saturday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


She was born in Columbia, KY on November 16, 1932, to the late Forest and Elzada Streeval Burton. She was preceded in death by her husband Vitus Jack Goodin.

Mrs. Goodin was a member of the Purdy Separate Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and was a former instructor at Lindsey Wilson College. Geneva was committed to God and helping people in any way possible, which lead her to the career that she loved as a Social Worker.

Survivors include three children Jackie Goodin (Barbara) of Columbia, KY, Vicky Goodin of Nashville, TN, and Cindy Lawrence of Springfield, KY; two grandchildren Christopher Goodin and Austin Curry of Columbia, KY; a great grandchild Novalee Goodin; six siblings Clarice Pendleton of Edinburgh, IN, Rachel Pike of Russell Springs, KY, Tony Burton (Jan) of Edinburgh, IN, Ronald Burton of Columbia, KY, Archie Joe Burton (Shirley) of Liberty, KY, and Irma Dean Piercy of Columbia, KY; a sister-in-law Carol Burton of Columbia, KY; an uncle Gilbert Burton of Columbia, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Dr. Julia Goodin, two sons-in-law John Lawrence and Dave Haugan and two brothers Darrell Gene Burton and Elvia Don Burton.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Pyles, Robert Knight, Ricky Parnell, Doug Cowan, Austin Curry, Christopher Goodin.
