Election 2006: Larry Russell Bryant 7th Republican running in 7th There are just 4.5 filing days until deadline. Seventh District also has two Bryants. Larry Russell Bryant is 50th candidate, 36th Republican to file for 2006 county primaries. By Ed Waggener ed@ColumbiaMagazine.com The Republican race for Magistrate in Adair County's 7th Magisterial District just got more interesting. Larry Russell Bryant filed Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in the County Court Clerk's office to become the seventh Republican and the eighth candidate in the race to replace Democrat Terry Farris, who is the only Democrat now filed for County Judge-Executive. Not only does Mr. Bryant become the seventh Republican, he is the second Bryant in running. Jeff Bryant--his father is is another Larry Bryant, this one Larry W. Bryant, who lives in the district--had already filed. For the record, the other Larry Bryant in Adair County lives in District 3. Larry Russell Bryant was Deputy Judge-Executive in the James Brock administration. He has also served on the Adair County School Board, representing School Board District #5, which includes Ozark, West Columbia, East Columbia. District Seventh includes Hurt and North Columbia Precincts. The other Republicans in the race include Paul W. Turner, William Earl "Bill" Corbin, Russell Holmes, Donnie Shirley, and Terry Hadley. With eight candidates, District 7 now has the most candidates for one office in any district. This is not an all-time record. The county clerk's office suggested that one magisterial race in the last 20 years had 13 magisterial candidates. Candidates for county office now total 50 With Larry Russell Bryant's filing, there are now a total of 50 candidates running in the county primaries: 36 Republicans have filed for 17 offices; 14 Democrats have filed for a total of 13 offices. Filing deadline is next Tuesday Candidates for county party primaries are coming down to the short rows. There are now only four and one-half filing days left, including today:
