By Trey Stephens

Adair County is taking the court in the Elite 8 second round of the KHSAA Boy's Basketball state tournament presented by UK HealthCare.

The team faces off against Lyon County. Adair County will need to continue the hot shooting they had yesterday that was able to push them past Marshall County. Starting 5 for Adair: Coomer, White, Cochran, Loy, and Grant.

The Lions meanwhile will look to improve on their season low 45 points scored in their game against Ashland Blazer on Wednesday.

  • Update 1: In an early slugfest, the Indians trail the Lions of Lyon County 5-6 at the first quarter media timeout. The team's leading scorer is Carter White with 3 points. Brayton Coomer leads the team in rebounding already with 5.

  • Update 2: At the end of the 1st quarter, the Indians are battling with Lyon County down 12-10. The leading scores are Carter White and Dawson Gilbert both with 3. Brayton Coomer remains the team leader in rebounds with 6.

  • Update 3: At the 2nd half media timeout Adair County trails Lyon County 25-18. The team is struggling to grab defensive rebounds as Lyon County continues to score on second chance opportunities. The team is led in scoring by Carter White with 5.

  • Halftime Update: At halftime Adair County trails Lyon County 20-30. The team is very much in the fight, but has work to do in the second half. The team is led in scoring by Carter White with 5 points, and led in rebounding by Brayton Coomer with 8.

  • Update 5: At the 3rd quarter media timeout, the Indians trail 48-28. Lyon County began the 2nd half with an 11-0 run that set Adair County well behind the 8 ball in the first 5 minutes of the second half. The team is led in scoring by Dawson Gilbert and Isaiah Cochran, both with 6.

  • Update 6: At the end of the 3rd quarter, Adair County trails 56-32 to the Lions of Lyon County. The team is led in scoring by Cochran, Loy, and Gilbert all with 6.

  • Update 7: At the final media timeout, Lyon County leads Adair County 71-54. Adair County continues to fight and is led in scoring by Connor Loy with 14.
