Stolen pickup found in pond; no body was found inside at recovery

Adair County Sheriff, Adair Rescue Squad coordinate recovery efforts
A 2000 Dodge Ram Pickup was reported stolen around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, January 22, 2006, from the residence of Kenny Brown on Allen Cemetery Road in Adair County.

Later that morning the truck was discovered at the bottom of a pond on Buford Lee's property also on Allen Cemetery Road.

Adair County Sheriff's Deputy Charles Greer along with the Adair County Rescue Squad responded but due to the cold murky water, were unable to hook to the vehicle properly for removal.

Drivers were on the scene again Monday morning to attempt removal of the truck. It was successfully removed on Tuesday and there was no body found inside it.

The investigation is underway.
