KSP arrests Russell Co. man in a child sexual abuse investigation

Russell Springs, KY - A Detective with Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 in Columbia has made an arrest in an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse of a child in Russell County.

An investigation began when a KSP Detective received a report of sexual abuse of a child. It was discovered that a man had engaged in inappropriate physical contact with a juvenile in Russell County. As a result of the investigation, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant.


On March 6, 2024, David Ray Holderfield, age 54, of Russell Springs, was arrested in Russell County and charged with Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, Victim Under 12 Years of Age. Mr. Holderfield was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center and is currently held on a $10,000 cash bond.

The case is being investigated by Detective Zach Scott. Additional charges may be forthcoming, as the investigation remains ongoing by Detective Scott.
