Les Russell, 83, Casey County, KY (1941-2024) Leslie "Les" Russell, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024at the age of 83. He was a member of Hilltop Church of Christ. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed his work as an excavator and heavy equipment operator. He loved riding motorcycles. Born on February 11, 1941, in Campbellsville, he was the son of the late Claude and Annie Lee Saunders Russell. He is survived by two sons, Thomas (Kimberly) Russell of Campbellsville and Roger (Teresa) Thompson of Windsor; two daughters, Kendra (Junior) Weddle of Liberty and Lora (Ricky) Montgomery of Russell Springs; six grandchildren, Cody (Miranda) Weddle, Ashton (Jeremy) Stearns, Casey (Brittany) Weddle, Wesley (Allison) Thompson, Dustin (Kayla) Montgomery, and Kyle Montgomery; eleven great-grandchildren, Addalie, Emmalie, Carman, William Jasper, Weston, Maggie Jo, Kylie, Macy, Max, Jaxon, and Olivia; and a sister, Grace Wilson of Campbellsville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Murphy Russell, who passed away on March 29, 2021; a sister, Velma McVay; and four brothers, Fred Louis Russell, Wallace Russell, Tom Russell, and Bob Russell. The funeral service will be held at 11amET Saturday, March 9, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Duane Permenter, Bro. Marvin Cromer, and Bro. Jeff Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 9 on Friday. Pallbearers will be Thomas Russell, Cody Weddle, Casey Weddle, Wesley Thompson, Ronnie Eads, and Dustin McAfee.
