Election 2006: Democrat Joe Collins joins race for jailer this morning Democrats have 12 candidates for 11 offices. Wid Watch continues By Ed Waggener ed@ColumbiaMagazine.com Joe Collins filed for the Democratic nomination for Jailer this morning, Thursday, January 19, 2006, in the office of Adair County Clerk Ann Melton. With Collins running, Adair County Democrats now have 12 candidates seeking a total of 11 offices. The Wid Watch (or Wait?) continues It had been expected that Wid Harris would have filed by now. But the agony of decision for him apparently has not been completely resolved. At noon, Thursday, January 18, 2006, he still had not filed for either Adair County Judge or for re-election as Magistrate in District 2.Two Repubicans, Ted Turner and Joe Kimbler, have already filed for Magistrate in District 2. With Collins' filing, the Democrats have now fielded candidates for Adair County Judge Circuit Court Clerk, PVA, Sheriff, Jailer, Coroner. They also have candidates for Magistrate in District 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. No Democrat has filed for any of the seven Constable positions. Nor does the party have candidates for County Attorney, County Court Clerk, or County Surveyor. And, as yet, the Democrats have no candidates for District 1 and 2 Magistrates.
