Charles Watkins Shields, Jr, 83, Taylor County, KY Charles Watkins Shields, Jr. of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Charles W. Shields, Sr. and Nancy Fry, was born on August 8, 1940. He departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at his residence having attained the age of 83 years, six months and ten days. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Knifley Christian Church. He retired from General Telephone and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Warford Shields, in 2009. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Richard England of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Adam and Alyssa Barbee, Lindsey Barbee, Bethany England, and Daniel and Audrey Clark; six great-grandchildren: Jayden Barbee, Layla Barbee, Jayla Barbee, Ameyla Barbee, Harper Barbee and Watson Barbee; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold and Moncia Shields, and Daryl and Cindi Shields all of Lexington; plus a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Shields was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Clark, and a special friend, Lois Daffron. The funeral services for Mr. Charles Shields, Jr. will be conducted at 10amCT on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with John Peckinpaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville with full military honors provided by the Marion County Veteran's Honor Guard. Visitation is requested from 5 until 8 on Thursday and after 7 Friday until the time of the service. Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the Green County Food Pantry, which can be made at the funeral home.
