Peggy Ann Snow, 84, Russell County, KY Peggy Ann Snow, 84 years of age, went home to be with Jesus and her awaiting family members on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born on November 22, 1939, at least that's what we are told. After believing they were the same age for half their life, her late husband, Marvin (Birdie) opened up a letter from the government saying she was born in 1939, rather than 1940. Having received this knowledge, he then proudly showed her the letter with a smile on his face to declare she was older. Peggy's life began with a home birth in Russell County, to Clyde and Hallie Pearl Hudson. She was one out of 9 kids. She said she never had to use an outhouse, because her dad was into construction. They had modern conveniences many in the community did not have. While she admired her dad's accomplishments and the entrepreneurial heritage she was raised with, she spoke often of her mother's devotion to the Lord, her love for her children and her work in the community. Both parents built a foundation for her in life. Peggy obtained her education from Russell County High School, grew up and got married. It wasn't a good thing for her. The marriage was short lived, but God used the experience to fuel her compassion for women and draw out of her a ministry to women later in life. As a single mom of a beautiful daughter, Debra, she grew in strength. After several years, she met a handsome man that worked at a local filling station. All of a sudden, her car seemed to need more attention than it used to. This man, named Marvin Snow, affectionately called "Birdie", took notice and shortly after their dating started, her sister, Betty, and her brother-in-law, Walter Stapp, were accompanying them to TN on New Year's Eve to elope. Debra stole Marvin's heart and became his; then came Steven and Kimberly. As their little family grew, Peggy worked for her dad in his local businesses. Then one day her sister Betty Lou invited her to join her as a decorator with Home Interiors. Peggy declined, then her sister said, "Well, you probably couldn't do it anyway." Snap. Peggy stepped up to the plate and said she'd show her. Peggy grew her Home Interior Decorator business to one of the top salespersons in the state and nation, earning National Royalty status. She was a valuable team member of her branch and her sales earned recognition from the company throughout her career. She used the business not only for income to help her family, but as a tool to reach women. She ministered love and value to everyone she touched. Peggy had a music ministry. Taught by her mother, Hallie, to play piano by ear, she could "walk" on the piano. She grew up with family gatherings around the piano, taking turns with her mother and brother, Jimmy playing and singing. She accompanied her mother often to the nursing homes to play and sing for them. When her mother was no longer able to do this, Peggy began going by herself and grabbing anyone that would go with her. She continued this until 2020, when the shut downs began. Peggy was a local treasure to many, young and old. Her giving heart and a life of integrity was evident. She reached out to as many as would listen about the saving power of Jesus. If outstanding persons were named, she would be named as a mother to the town. She will be missed, but the seeds of her life are planted in many. Peggy walked meekly, talked gently, but was a strong woman. She was passionate about Jesus Christ, loyal to family and friends. She loved to listen to King of Kings radio and was a supporter. She loved her church, Bernard Ridge Church of God. She had respect for those that stood up. Peggy was married to Marvin (Birdie) married 55 years before he passed away in 2021. They are survived by their children, Debra Jo Stephens, of Covington, Georgia, Steve Ethridge Snow, of Russell Springs; Kimberly Lou Lawless and her husband, Gary Lawless, of Jamestown; their grandchildren, Joshua Stephens, Amanda Stephens (and Ron Calvert) and Mark Isaac Winfrey; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Jasper, Kayliah, Ethan, Kyle and Christopher; great-great-granddaughter, Moana; her siblings, Hilda Miller, Jack Hudson and Sue Aaron; brother-in-law Jackie Aaron; sister-in-law, Patsy Hudson; former sons-in-law, Mark Winfrey and Robert Wayne Stephens; and former granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Stephens. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Hallie Hudson; her siblings, Christopher Hudson, Hubert Hudson, Philip Hudson, Jimmy Hudson and Betty Stapp Brown; and a great-grandson, Zion Stephens. Funeral services are 2pmCT Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Bernard Ridge Church of God with Pastor Eric Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Bernard Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. The family invites all who loved Peggy to come out and enjoy fellowship as we celebrate her life together. Peggy's pallbearers will be Gary Lawless, Isaac Winfrey, Steve Snow, Ron Calvert, Ethan Thomas, Christopher (CJ) Thomas, and Chris Stapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Stapp and Sam Stapp. Bernard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
