James Everett McCubbin, Green County, KY (1936-2024)

James Everett McCubbin of Summersville, Kentucky, son of the late Claude Elliott McCubbin and Lura Mae Goff McCubbin, was born on Sunday, February 29, 1936 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, February 5, 2024 at age 87 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.


Survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna Jean Warren McCubbin of Summersville, having united in marriage on October 1, 1955.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Patty and Larry Payne of Nashville, and Paula Blakeman of Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law: Donald Everett and Kathy McCubbin of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren: David Blakeman, Whitney Dula, and Amanda Shawley; five great-grandchildren: Harper, Deakon, Andi, Everett, and Eddie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Eddie Blakeman; a brother and sister: Gene McCubbin and Lily Bean; and a special niece: Carol Ann Rose.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service at 12noonCT Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Aetna Grove Cemetery. Bro. Kelvin Edwards officiating.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Aetna Grove Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

PALLBEARERS: Jerry Warren, Shelby Warren, Donnie McCubbin, Dean Warren, Danny Bibb, C.J. Whitman, Jackie Rose, Adrian Dula, and Derek Shawley.
