Bernice Johnson, 84, Russell County, KY (1939-2024)

Bernice Johnson was born April 25, 1939, in Russell Springs, Kentucky. She loved growing up with her large family and helping on the farm. She often told stories of the antics she and her brothers and sisters would get into.

Bernice embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity. She had a servant's heart and lived by 1 Peter 4:10, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others..." Bernice was a member of the West 80 Church of God, where she had many friends and where she loved to help in whatever capacity she could.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her beloved husband, Houston Johnson, died in 1997, and Bernice was looking forward to seeing him in Heaven.

Bernice lived a long and happy life and died February 4, 2024, at age 84, at her daughter's home in South Carolina, under hospice care, due to Alzheimer's.

She is survived by numerous loving family members.

Funeral services are 11amCT, Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott Proctor officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 10amCT, Thursday, until time for services.
