String instrument designer Roger King visits LWC By Shelby Burton Louisville string instrument designer and maker Roger King shared his one-of-a-kind instrument collection with LWC students on Monday afternoon, January 29, 2024. Students from LWC's choral and art programs and various faculty members received a hands-on demonstration of the unique artwork. King handcrafts his instruments from various types of wood including redwood, maple, walnut, mahogany, African cherry, Adirondack spruce and Alaskan red spruce. The collection - which includes mandolins, dulcimers, a lap steel guitar, a zither, and a bouzouki - will be on display in the W.W. Slider Humanities Center, 155 Blue Raider Drive, Columbia, KY, for the remainder of the spring semester and is open to the public. This story was posted on 2024-01-31 09:36:40
