Virginia Bell, 102, Green County, KY (1021-2024)

Virginia Odell Bell of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William E. Durrett and Pearl Morris Durrett, was born on Tuesday, October 11, 1921 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was 102 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age.

She was a retired school teacher for the Green County School System, a homemaker and caregiver. She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was the oldest member of Brush Creek Baptist Church where she had also been a Sunday School teacher.


Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Elbert Truman Bell on June 19, 2002 having united in marriage on April 19, 1941. Her children: Rebecca Jane Bell Milby and William Lee Bell.

Survivors include a grandson: Levi Bell and wife, Brook of Taylor County; two great-grandchildren: Maxton Downs and Aspen Jolene Bell; special cousins: Ann Akin and Janet Wright both of Green County; nieces and nephews: Randall Lee Bell, Wallace Ray Bell, Linda Crowder, Howard Bell, Donald Bell, Dell Nalley Metcalf, Joyce Ann Nalley Norris, Wanda Bartley, Hernietta Fogle, Junior Nalley, Jerry Nalley, Michael Nalley, Joseph Nalley, Jimmy Nalley, Patty Nalley Bruner, Sue Nalley Miles, Madonna Nalley Bowman, Steven Nalley, Bert Nalley, Bruce Nalley, Mark Steven Bell, Karen Bell Battcher, George Edelen, Jr., David Edelen, Terry Edelen, Bonnie Bell Jones and James Post; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Virginia Odell Bell will be conducted at 10amCT Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Bro. Casey Durrett officiating. Visitation is requested from 4 until 8pmCT Wednesday and after 7 A.M., Thursday until time of the funeral service.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
