Columbia Marines Knight and Hackney meet Miss Kentucky Tara Conner Adair County Marines Kristopher Knight and Brandon Hackney reported home for a 30-day leave on December 16, 2005 and today they must head out for combat training in Camp Geiger, NC. During their time at home, there were two special events. The first very special event was the marriage of Brandon to his girl, Andrea Bell, of Columbia (and we hope to have details and photos of that happy occasion to share with readers soon). The other event was when the guys got to meet Miss Kentucky USA, and Kristopher's Mom shared a photo which accompanies this article of the Marines with the royalty. Miss Kentucky USA, Tara Conner, is from Russell Springs and a graduate of Russell County High School. The Marines along with their recruiter SSgt. Brian Melton of Somerset, were pleased to have an opportunity to meet Miss Kentucky. Kristopher is the son of Melissa Taylor from Columbia and Tracey Knight from Bowling Green. Brandon is the son of Sandra Conner from Meza Arizona and Danny Hackney from Columbia. Kris and Brandon graduated from bootcamp at Parris Island, South Carolina December 16th and were fortunate to get 30 days at home instead of the usual 10. Family and friends send them off with love as they depart today for Camp Geiger. Melissa Taylor (Proud mom of Kristopher) melissa1222@alltel.net This story was posted on 2006-01-16 09:54:26
