Gen Beard, 83, Green County, KY (1940-2024) Virginia Kelly "Gen" Beard of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Porter Thompson Kelly and Mavis Acree Kelly was born Friday, December 27, 1940 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was 83 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church. She attended school in the Green County School System, retired from the Green County School System after 20 years of loving service, enjoyed being outside working in her flowers and landscaping, and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Buddy" Beard on September 3, 2021 having united in marriage on October 6, 1962, in Greensburg. She was also preceded in death by a brother: James Kelly; sister and brother-in-law: Mozella and Clyde Poynter; and great-granddaughter: Kennedy Rayburn. She is survived by her children: Dawn (Billy) Blakeman of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Darian (Stephanie) Beard of Gallatin, Tennessee; grandchildren: Thomas Rayburn, Blake (Caylin) Dudgeon, Brooke (Blake) Richerson, Isabella Beard, and Hailey Beard; step-grandchild: Andi (Jerrett) Coppage; great-grandchildren: Kelsey Rayburn, Mason Rayburn, Carsen Dudgeon, Kenzy Rayburn, Carter Richerson, Nadilynn Dudgeon, Oliver Richerson, Maverick Rayburn; sister-in-law: Becky Kelly; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pmCT Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fry Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom officiating. Visitation is requested from 4 until 8 Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral and after 7 Friday until time of the funeral service.
