Two Republicans vying for First District Constable nomination There are no Constable candidates in either party in Districts 2, 4, or 7; filing deadline, January 31, 2006, is fast approaching William "Bill" Troutwine filed Friday, January 14, 2006, for Constable in District 1, which includes the precincts of White Oak, Eunice-Pellyton. and Little Cake. The filing sets up yet another Republican primary, increasing the assurance of a large Republican in the May 16, 2006. Mr. Troutwine will face Stephen Austin Foster to represent the Republican Party in the General Election. There is also a Republican Primary for Magistrate in the First District, with incumbent Roger Stephens being challenged by Donnie Gene Curry. The First District is the most heavily Republican district in Adair County, with more than 1,300 Republicans to fewer than 300 Democrats. The Foster-Troutwine race is the first contest for a constable position. At present, there are candidates for Constable in Districts 1, 3, 5, and 6. No one of either party has filed for Constable in Districts 2, 4, or 7. All the constable candidates are Republicans. The deadline for filing for party primaries is January 31, 2006, just a little over two weeks. As yet, there are no City, School Board, or Soil Conservation candidates who have filed in the office of Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton.
