Kenny W. Powell, 61, Columbia, KY (1962-2024)

Kenny Wayne "Rainmaker" Powell of Columbia departed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on January 2, 2024 in Glasgow, Kentucky. He was 61 years old.

A Home Going service will be held at 1pmCT on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Pastor Gerald Reliford officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Saturday.


He was preceded in death by his father, Walker McKinney "Wormy" Powell. Kenny was a member of New Life for the Nations Church, a life-long enthusiast of Semi Trucks, big fan of Elvis, Gunsmoke and The McCoy's. He was known for his witty humor and kind heart.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Shirley Powell of Columbia
  • His mother - Joyce Triplett Powell of Columbia
  • One son and daughter-in-law - Wesley and Courtney Powell of Bowling Green
  • Two grandsons - River and Nolan (who were the light of his life) and expecting a granddaughter, Everly in February 2024.
  • One brother and sister-in-law - Bobby and Jennifer Powell of Columbia
  • Two very special nieces - Heather McQueary (Austin) of Russell Springs, Mallory Beard (Tristan) of Columbia
  • A bonus son - Jeremy McClister (Rachel) of Campbellsville
Casket Bearers: Tristan Beard, Austin McQueary, Hunter Powell, Brian Harvey, Brandon White, Tim Jones, Larry Sample, Dakotah Sample
