High School students and Senior Citizens offered special classes Area senior citizens and high school seniors can start the new year off with a class at Lindsey Wilson College. High school seniors in the region can start college a semester early by enrolling in a select number of Lindsey Wilson classes for the reduced price of $180 per class. The three-hour classes count toward college credit. The region's senior citizens get an even better deal -- they can take college classes for free as part of the college's Senior Scholars Program. High school students can enroll in Lindsey Wilson courses in art, computers, history, psychology, religion and sociology. "This is one of the best ways for a high school student to get a jump start on college," said Lindsey Wilson Dean of Admissions Traci Pooler. "Many of the classes we offer to high school students meet just one night a week, which makes it a very convenient way to start earning college credit before you even graduate from high school." Classes in art, communication, music, psychology, religion and sociology are offered in the college's Senior Scholars Program. Adults who are 62 years or older may participate in the Senior Scholars Program. The program allows participants to take one undergraduate class this spring at no tuition expense. "Our professors really enjoy teaching senior scholars because they bring so much to the classroom," Pooler said. "Their life experiences add a great deal to the classroom experience." Participants in the Senior Scholars Program are not required to have a high school diploma if they audit a class. But Lindsey Wilson admissions requirements must be met if a participant wants to earn academic credit. All students must purchase books and supplies for their classes. Lindsey Wilson's 2006 spring semester begins on Monday, January 23. The following classes are open to area high school students: All class meet on Central time.
