Bennie Montgomery, 72, Green County, KY (1951-2023)

Bennie Clay Montgomery of Green County, Kentucky, son of the late Benjamin Johnson "B.J." Montgomery and Ruby Janelle Curry Montgomery, was born on Saturday, September 15, 1951 in Campbellsville, Kentucky and departed this life early Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was 72 years, 3 months and 15 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was a former banker for the then, Greensburg Deposit Bank, owner of Convenient Food Mart, and sales manager for Commonwealth/Transamerica Insurance Company. He loved horseback riding and hunting. He was past treasurer and past president for the Greensburg Rotary Club, an honorary Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Hill and Valley Saddle Club, but was mainly known for his love for his grandchildren and family.


Survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Jean Lobb Montgomery of Green County, having united in marriage on August 22, 1969.

Other survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Jennifer Ball and fiance, Timmy Dickens of Greensburg, Sarah and Billie Lockard, and Elizabeth and Scott Brockman all of Campbellsville; nine grandchildren: Emily Ball (Henry), Alex Ball, Jackson Martin, Nicholas Martin, Piper Lockard, Benjamin Martin, Gracie Montgomery, Jacob Hayes, and Noah Janes; four step-grandchildren: Zoe Clark (Eli), Kirsten Lockard, Chase Brockman (Whitney), and Chance Brockman; two step-great-grandchildren: Paxton and Theo; a sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Richard Potts of Lexington; two brothers and sisters-in-law: David and Tanya Montgomery, and John and Kathleen Montgomery all of Lexington; his special dog: Rod Chester J. Dogger; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Bennie Clay Montgomery will be conducted at 1pmCT Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with entombment in the Greensburg Cemetery. Dr. Ben Martin, Bro. Cliffton Sullivan, and Rev. Jay Damron officiating. Visitation is requested from 4-8 Wednesday.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or Hosparus of Green River, which can be made at the funeral home.
