Louie Poynter, 80, Metcalfe County, KY (1943-2023) William Louie Poynter, 80, of Edmonton, KY passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital with his family by his side. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and a former employee of T. J. Samson Community Hospital, a retired school bus driver for Metcalfe County Schools and served as a Metcalfe County Constable for several years. He enjoyed being around people and was known for sitting on the public square watching traffic and looking for a friendly conversation. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was born in Metcalfe County on August 24, 1943, to Arthur Cecil and Clementine England Poynter. Survivors include his wife Katheryn Smith Poynter of Edmonton, KY; three daughters Sherry Morrison (Tommy) of Edmonton, KY, Kay Harris (Doug) of Edmonton, KY, and Missy George (Randy) of Russell Springs, KY; five grandchildren Christy York (Chris), Trevor Morrison (Chelsea), Haley Kelsey (Stephen), Scott George, and Kobe George (Leslie Turner); six great grandchildren Cody Chapman, Haze York, Emery Morrison, Caycee Harris, Brady George, and Blakelee George; seven siblings Von Poynter of Columbus, IN, Linda Appleby (Donald), Winford Poynter (Charlene), Roger Poynter (Judy), Terry Poynter (Linda), and Ronnie Poynter (Prescilla) all of Glasgow, KY, and Donnie Poynter (Donna) of Smiths Grove, KY; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings Ed Poynter, Glenn Poynter, and Patricia Poynter. Funeral services will be 1pmCT Monday, January 1, 2024, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
