Barbara McGaha, 95, Columbia, KY (1928-2023)

Barbara Jean (Bryant) McGaha of Columbia passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Grandview Nursing Home in Campbellsville, KY. She was 95 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the New Hope Separate Baptist Church, 11076 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Casey Davis and Bro Don Neat officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Tuesday morning until 8:30amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Visitation will continue at New Hope Separate Baptist Church on Tuesday from 9amCT until 11amCT.


She was born on January 19, 1928, in Kokomo, IN to the late Edgar and Stella Warner Bryant. She was preceded in death by her husband Schuyler McGaha.

Mrs. McGaha was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include three children Vernie McGaha (Connie) of Russell Springs, KY, Darryl McGaha of Columbia, KY, and Denise Glanzer of Campbellsville, KY; four grandchildren Brian McGaha (Jeannie), Susan Taylor, Jennifer Houk (John), and Brandon Glanzer (Alyssa); six great grandchildren Luke Popplewell, Braxton Glanzer, Skyler Houk, Taylor Houk, Bryant Glanzer, and Xander Houk; two sisters Joyce Anderson of Russell Springs, KY and Judy England of Columbia, KY and several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters Norma Bauer, Dorothy Roberts, and Wanda Burton and a brother Huey Braynt.

Pallbearers will be Vernie McGaha, Darryl McGaha, Brian McGaha, Brandon Glanzer, John Houk, Braxton Glanzer, Luke Popplewell, Bryant Glanzer, and Xander Houk.
