Adair Fiscal Court ends year in disagreement

By Vicky Pike

The Adair County Fiscal Court meeting Thursday night began with the Pledge of allegiance and prayer.

We needed it before it was over - prayer that is!!

The last County leadership meeting of the year 2023 ended in shouting between magistrates and ACJE, just like the year began - over money.

This meeting flew out of control over the fact that no one applied for the job advertised to take minutes of all the meetings for $186 and there's the question of who will be doing that job in future.

This Court is divided, and the staff is suffering.

How can any work get done when employees are constantly distracted by political disagreements driving them to privately seek out other employees to figure out what to do.

One thing that got done was the appointment of Richard Phelps to the economic development authority board.
