Brenda Sue Wilson, 78, Columbia, KY (1945-2023)

Brenda Sue (Smith) Wilson of Columbia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky, with her family by her side. She was 78 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Rick Shelton officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Billy Wilson, in the Milltown Church Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 9amCT on Saturday.


She was born in Adair County, Kentucky, on July 16, 1945, to the late Thomas S. Smith and Mary Frances Furkins Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbandBilly Wilson in 1997, six brothers, Rufus, Garnett, Gordon, Richard, James and Davis Allen Smith, four sisters, Dorothy Perry, Louise Stotts, Jewell Hardin and Shirley Gilpin.

Sue attended and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church. Many will remember her from when she was employed at Osh Kosh B'Gosh, Wal-Mart and the Discount Tobacco Stores in Columbia. She had a witty humor and a kind heart. She was a huge animal lover, having many cats, dogs and even ducks over the years. She always planted a big garden for as long as she was able and liked to cook up the goodies that came from it. Even though she was mostly a homebody, she still liked the occasional adventure with her friends.

Survivors include:
  • Her sister-in-law - Carline Smith of Columbia
  • Many nieces, nephews and their families
  • Her fur babies - Sugar and Tiger Lil
Casket Bearers: Dale Smith, Kenny Smith, Bryant Smith, Conor Smith, Mason Carter, Butch Hardin, Ronnie Gilpin, Darrell Carter
