Bro. Arndell Grider, 75, Russell County, KY (1948-2023)

Bro. Arndell Grider, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on December 22, 2023, at the Russell County Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army with the 4th Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchus) 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star Medal, The Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 campaign stars and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.

After the military he obtained his vocation through the Russell County Vocational School and won placement in several state competitions. Later in life he started his own business known as Grider's Electrical and Plumbing.


His greatest passion and mission were spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He spent many years in the Pastoral, Evangelical and teaching position. He attended The Word of God Chruch in Russell Springs, KY.

He enjoyed teaching the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. His family will always cherish the wisdom he gave them being scripturally sound in God's word.

Born on December 19, 1948, in Jamestown, KY he was the only son of the late Roy and Myrtie (Bell) Grider.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Linda (McGowan) Grider, their three children, Cheria Dunbar (Mike), Christa Bray (Brad Cooper), and Joshua Grider all of Russell Springs, KY. sister Wanda Gale Mann, of Jamestown, KY. He was the proud papa to 5 grandchildren, Kendra, Kara, Cheyenne, Jeron and Kayden and five great grandchildren as well as other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters JoNell McWhorter, and Anna Mae Walters.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday December 27, 1pmCT at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, with Bro Troy McWhorter and Bro. Matt Franklin officiating.

Friends may visit on Tuesday December 26, 5 - 8. Burial in the Jamestown Cemetery, with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.
