James Hayden Montgomery, 85, Taylor County, KY

James Hayden "The Snowman" Montgomery of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Fred and Maddie Perry Montgomery, was born on September 23, 1938 in Green County, Kentucky. He departed this life on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his residence having attained the age of 85 years, two months and 28 days.

He served his country honorably in the Kentucky Army National Guard 623rd Field Artillery Battalion. As owner and operator of Montgomery Summer Snow in Campbellsville, his personality and shaved ice creations made for a popular spot for kids and adults. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church.


Survivors include his wife, Karen Montgomery of Campbellsville; seven sons and four daughters-in-law: Troy and Jenna Montgomery, Timothy and Mellissa Montgomery, Scott and Kim Montgomery, and Joel Montgomery all of Greensburg, Mike Montgomery of Summersville, Christopher and Lanie Montgomery of Campbellsville, and Bobby and Denise Montgomery of Louisville; two daughters: Laura Davis of Summersville and Vickie Maier of Buffalo; 25 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law: Sue and Lanie Ferguson of Greensburg; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son: Jeff Montgomery; three brothers: B.J. Montgomery, Harold Montgomery and Billy Montgomery; and two sisters: Joyce Dixon and Gladys Johnson.

The funeral services for Mr. James Hayden Montgomery will be conducted at 3pmCT on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Bro. Danny Nelson officiating.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT until the time of the service.
