By Bridget Compton, Adair County Deputy Judge Executive

Effective January 1, 2024, Adair County will be implementing a new occupational tax, as well as the requirement for a business license.

The implementation for the occupational tax will affect any business that issues their employees a W2. Employers will deduct 0.50% from their employees' gross wages. Taxes are due quarterly.

A business license is required for any person(s) or business conducting any type of business in Adair County, the fee for the business license is $50 due March 1 for the year 2024, thereafter January 31 for each consecutive year.

Information and forms will be mailed out soon to the businesses we are aware of, if you do not receive these in the next few weeks, please contact me.
